How do I home decorate with Artificial Flowers on a budget?

When people think of artificial flowers there are two key issues that come to mind. Firstly is that fake flowers are too expensive and secondly that they look like cheap fake flowers. These statements may have been true 20 years ago when we did not have advanced materials and technologies to create highly realistic artificial flowers.

Nowadays the quality of artificial flowers is incredible, and the prices very reasonable! You don’t have to sacrifice that real flower feel anymore.

When decorating with artificial flowers there are a few tips and tricks to keep costs low if you don’t want to stretch your budget.

Tip #1

The first tip is a great one especially if you need either a small artificial flower arrangement or something low cost. I recommend having a look at pre made fake flower bouquets. Premade artificial bouquets contain more than one stem of fake flowers and can be easily split up and arranged with ease.

These bouquets range from $16.50 to $23.50 and come in a number of combinations from peonies to roses to hydrangeas. Each bouquet contains a fair few stems which is going to save you money. The only setback is that you are limited to the range of fake flowers, as all flowers do not come in fake flower bouquets.

The artificial flower bouquets also have quite short stems making them good for smaller artificial flower arrangements. Some examples on how to decorate with bouquets are as follows: Purchase a trio of bottles and display the flowers in three bottles on a windowsill. You could also purchase a glass vase or rattan pot and with the use of oasis (green floral foam) you could create a lovely arrangement.

Tip #2

My second tip is slightly different but very useful. If you have a garden with various foliage varieties’ you can integrate some real foliage in with artificial stems to cut costs. Some foliage varieties that work particularly well are magnolia leaves and blue gum because they last weeks and do not alter the water colour. The only issue with this method is that some foliage’s will alter the colour of your water and not last very long so experiment yourself to see what works well. As an example Camelia leaves are not ideal because they do not last very long and can turn the water brown very quickly.

Tip #3

My third tip is to never buy artificial flowers that are not on sale! At Country Accent Floral Boutique we are able to sell our artificial flowers at a sale price all year round, so why pay full price?
